Shortly after 2 a.m. on Good Friday morning, residents reported the fire in the attic of an apartment building to the police. A seriously injured person was recovered from the attic and looked after by the emergency services on site. But she died on the spot. A second person was recovered dead from the apartment.
The victims were a man and a woman, said a spokesman for the Lucerne public prosecutor’s office when asked by the Keystone-SDA news agency. The police assume that the dead are the two elderly residents.
The fire brigade took four people out of the house with a total of three apartments. The cause of the fire was still unclear in the morning. The fire detectives of the Lucerne police opened an investigation.
