In Ermelo a stable containing more than 6,000 ducks caught fire last night. Police arrested two minors, a spokesperson told NU.nl. The fire may have been caused by fireworks.
The boys were arrested on New Year’s Eve. They were still trapped around noon. It is not clear whether this is still the case.
According to the North and East Gelderland Security Region, the barn burned down completely. Police suspect the fire was started by fireworks. This is subject to further investigation.
The fire started around 2.30am. Firefighters brought the blaze under control more than three minutes later.
