In the north of Germany, a man attacked at least seven train passengers with a knife. Two people were killed and five injured, authorities in the state of Schleswig-Holstein report.
The man attacked his fellow passengers around 3 p.m., just before the regional train entered Brokstedt station. The perpetrator has been arrested, the police confirmed.
Panic in train
His motive and identity have not yet been disclosed by authorities, however BILD in Focus.de report that the man is a Syrian. The regional newspaper Lübeck news writes that panic broke out on the train when three girls ran into a train car and shouted that they had seen someone with a knife.
The attacker was also injured, a police spokesman said. The train was on its way from Kiel to Hamburg. Train traffic between the two cities is largely at a standstill, report the German railways.
