Two caregivers from Chartres hospital flew to the West Indies on Tuesday with 240 other health professionals from France, to lend a hand to their colleagues in Guadeloupe and Martinique overwhelmed by the coronavirus epidemic.
The incidence rate has increased tenfold since the start of summer in Eure-et-Loir

“The Chartres hospital has responded to the national appeal of the Minister of Solidarity and Health, Olivier Véran, relayed by the director general of the Center-Val de Loire regional health agency, Laurent Habert, to help caregivers from Guadeloupe and Martinique, where the health situation is catastrophic. “

“Given internal constraints and to ensure continuity of care in our services at a time when 30% of the workforce is on leave, we have selected two candidates,” explains Yvon Le Tilly. “This mobilization is one more element which testifies to the solidarity between the hospital teams. “

Margot, a young medical intern, joined the intensive care unit of the University Hospital Center (CHU) in Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe. Isabelle, a resuscitation nurse, also works as a back-up to caregivers in the West Indies. “I don’t know exactly in which department she was assigned. Both left off the cuff, underlines the deputy director. It is not a vacation. They will be very heavily solicited ”.
