Twitter now shows all views of your tweets

It was one of Elon Musk’s first promises for this last month of the year, before he decided to stop managing the social network through a survey. Twitter now shows, in Spain and the rest of the world, the opinions each tweet had along with likes and retweets to be able to compare the success of the publication.

This option was already present in the functioning of the social network, but has been kept private. Only the authors of the tweet could see the reach of their messages and compare it with the interactions of the rest of the users. Now everyone can see how far your message has come.

Both in iOS and Android applications and in the computer version. Tweets now have an extension new graph icon next to the corresponding number of views.

Of course, this change won’t apply to all messages. According to shared information from the platform, community tweets, Twitter Circle tweets, and older tweets will not offer this audience data.

Each new view will be flagged when the post, whether it’s a single photo, video, text or all together, appear on anyone’s screen. Your own views will also be counted, meaning that the tweet appears on the author’s screen, in the same way that someone can like and retweet themselves.

The views that a message has through other platforms will also be taken into account, for example, when a tweet appears in an internet search or inserted in an article. That is, the same message can be seen twice from different sides, which would increase its audience data.

Elon Musk, the still CEO of Twitter, explained at the time that this measure aims to demonstrate how “alive” the platform is, for him just seeing replies and likes doesn’t give you the full picture. The tycoon frequently publishes phrases such as: “The use of Twitter continues to increase, reaches all-time high of active users”.

The provision, in reality, nothing against the tide. The rest of the major social networks and platforms have hidden this and other data. For example, Instagram and Facebook allow users to hide the amount of “likes”. YouTube also ended up making the dislike button data private so that only the creators could see it.
