An apartment building in Washington DC has been named The Ginsburg – to honor the Supreme Court justice. The call to live in the upscale resort, “named for the heart of justice,” has drawn ridicule online, however.
The name of the building was “Honor” Ruth Bader Ginsburg, but to live in the complex supposedly inspired by the beloved judge, you will have to shell out some serious money.
According to apartments.com, a two-bedroom apartment is currently available and can be yours for “only” $ 6,900 per month.
“You are here to leave your mark on the city. Your time here may be short, but the need for an elevated life remains ”. Ginsburg’s website reads. Tenants are promised apartments “Flush with historic details and modern amenities. “
As social media users caught wind of “Honor” Granted to Ginsburg, who died in September of last year at the age of 87, few refrained from the jokes or accusations of exploitation.
“In honor of the late judge, you can get a 2 bedroom place for triple the average American mortgage”, writer Steve Beynon tweeted in reaction.
“Developers are the worst, period,” podcasteur Lauren Ober added.
Since Ginsburg’s death, many projects have come forward to honor his memory, but none are as expensive as this building. An upcoming documentary titled “RUTH: Ginsburg Justice in Its Own Words” is due for release later this week, and a five-story mural of the judge was also erected in San Jose, Calif., Last month.
