‘Twister’ director Jan de Bont very surprised about the reboot

<!–

–>
Then the Dutch director / cinematographer Jan de Bont Twister in 1996, it turned out to be the second most successful film of the year with worldwide revenues of $ 495 million. You would think that de Bont would at least be involved in talks about a reboot of the film, which was recently announced. However, the director is just as amazed as we are at the news.

During a conversation with Collider, de Bont was asked about the Twister reboot. The director has the necessary comments on the idea:

“I read that a month or two ago and said,” Wow, are they going to do F5 now? I bet it is. “You can’t make the reboot by making everything bigger. That hardly ever works with movies. You have to come up with a story where you get involved with the human side. You can’t make it worse and destroy entire cities. That is exactly the way special effects take over a film. ”

A talented new director
We still know little about the Twister reboot, aside from the fact that the talented Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick) will direct the film. Frank Marshall will produce as in 1996 and Universal Pictures would still be looking for a screenwriter. It may just be that the makers of the reboot listen to De Bont’s advice about the human side, but we also all know that studios usually think with the mentality that bigger is better.
