TV: Hispanic CBS New York reporter Pablo Guzmán dies – El Diario NY

CBS New York announced the loss of Pablo Guzmán, a legendary voice of New York journalism and former political activist born in The Bronx in 1952.

“Pablo loved being a journalist and many would say he was one of the best street reporters in New York City,” the television station published in his obituary.New York City made Pablo Guzmán who he was. He was like that: bright, tough and with a soft side too.”

“Pablo Guzmán was a son of the Bronx who spoke truth to power and demanded leaders be held accountable. Our city is a better place because of the work he did and he will truly be missed. Rest in peace”, commented last night alcalde Eric Adams.

“Guzmán died Sunday morning after decades of covering crime, politics and the city’s historical developments over the past 30 years. “He recently worked as a senior correspondent for CBS,” he summarized. New York Post.

“I never knew what was going to come out of his mouth,” said colleague Cindy Hsu. “Pablo was very original and we will miss him. “He knew everyone.”

He loved the NY Yankees and music. Guzmán graduated from Bronx High School of Science in 1968 and attended the State University of New York at Old Westbury. The cause of death has not been announced. He is survived by his wife Debbie, two children and his mother.

In the 1970s, before covering news in print, radio and television, her life was hectic, with Young Lords, a primarily Puerto Rican revolutionary party.

“As a reporter he could tell a story in a unique way, with a little style and a little drama, and boy, did we get caught up in it,” said his colleague Mary Calvi. “It was unique.”

“People talked to Pablo… “He had a knack for bringing out the best in people and people really trusted him.”said news director Sarah Burke.
