Legendary football coach, Yuri Semin, was included in the jury of the penultimate issue of “Ice Age”. After the show aired, Yuri Pavlovich, in an interview with Sport24, shared his impressions of the project, talked about communication with Tatyana Tarasova, and also spoke about Alina Zagitova as the host and coaching genius of Eteri Tutberidze.
“The organizers invited me to the Ice Age. I came thanks to the fact that the organizers are professionals in their field and outstanding people in figure skating. Moreover, it is a very popular program “, – began the ex-coach of Lokomotiv.
– What are your impressions of the performances?
– The best! I saw that these guys are working hard. Emotions remained joyful. There are not so many positive and joyful programs in which you can laugh and still see sports competition. At the same time, Averbukh and other coaches are unique people. It takes a lot of work to combine a professional and an amateur in a performance.
– Some members of the jury admitted that they could spy marks for the technique from the same Tatyana Tarasova. Have you had this?
– Of course. I don’t know much in this regard, so I took notes for Tatyana Anatolyevna. She is a professor in this matter, and we sat next to her. At the same time, no one imposed any assessment on me, I myself endured and set it. There are nuances that I do not know, but I have my own opinion on each number.
– Many criticize Alina Zagitova for her work as a presenter. Did you like how it works?
– Alina is an amazing transmission! This happens for one simple reason: Alina is a great athlete and she herself went through this path. They do not immediately become outstanding commentators, but she broadcasts sincerely and competently. And those people who don’t know how to achieve success in sports – they probably don’t like Alina’s work. She achieved everything with her work. I am also delighted with her work with Alexei – this is an amazing pair for “Ice Age”.
– Should she return to the big sport?
– She is an adult, she will choose which path to go. I would like her to perform again, because it is very beautiful and attracts a large number of people to figure skating.
– What impression did Tatyana Anatolyevna make?
– Tatyana Anatolyevna is a great coach. Tarasova in any sport would be leading, like her father, who taught her a lot. She took hard work from her father, and you all see talent through her pupils. Among them is Alexei Yagudin, who is an excellent leader of the Ice Age and has achieved everything in his sports life.
– Did you manage to talk about football with Tarasova?
– We didn’t have much time for communication, but we exchanged separate opinions. We talked about football and sports in general.
– Did you follow figure skating before the project?
– I follow all kinds of sports. As for figure skating, I love big international competitions and the Russian championship. I have known Tatyana Anatolyevna for a long time, as she was with us at Lokomotiv and worked in our palace. I saw her training there, where she and her students showed all their hard work.
– Follow specific skaters?
– Recently I followed Alina Zagitova and her rival Evgenia Medvedeva. I know that now there are still young and talented girls in figure skating.
– What do you think about the fact that in figure skating at the adult level they can perform even at the age of 15 and achieve success at that age?
– They will figure skating figure skating themselves and without our participation. They know their sport and profession better. We look at it as spectators.
– Do you, as a coach, like the work of Eteri Tutberidze?
– Of course! She is an outstanding trainer and one of those who continued the success of her generation with new methods. I could have learned from her.
– Not surprised that Dmitry Sychev participates in the “Ice Age”?
– I was surprised when I saw him at the very beginning. But I remember that he played well in hockey and at the same time is engaged in water sports. Dima is an active person in life. I was pleased with how quickly he is progressing: his first performance is still heaven and earth. The coach works well with him.
