Chasing monkeys and cleaning rivers – everything that is done to make Trump like it in India

Donald Trump is going to India for two days next week. All levers are currently being set in motion there so that the US President will enjoy the Taj Mahal.

The Taj Mahal – a landmark of India, known worldwide. Visited by over seven million tourists annually. Donald Trump will be one of them next week.

The President of the United States will embark on a two-day trip to India on Monday with the aim of improving the strained relationship with the 1.3 billion country. The relationship between the two countries has suffered recently due to trade disputes.

Trump will visit the city of Ahmedabad in western India and the capital New Delhi. And of course a visit to the Taj Mahal in the city of Agra should not be missed.

The authorities of Agra and Ahmedabad are currently turning a bit on the bike because of the high number of visitors. One wants to make a good impression at all costs. For this reason, some measures have been taken that at times seem almost grotesque, or at least questionable.

The slum wall

Trump’s first stop will be in the city of Ahmadabad. There he is to be welcomed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modri in the world’s largest cricket stadium “Motera”. The name of the event: «Namaste Trump».

As usual, Trump will be picked up by a convoy at the airport and taken to the stadium.

The problem: there is a slum on the planned route to “Moreta”. Trump shouldn’t get to see this.

The solution: build a 500 meter wall.

Said and done. The construction of the wall caused indignation in India. A few days ago, however, Vijay Nehra, City Commissioner of Ahmadabad, spoke on Twitter.

According to him, this wall had been planned two months ago “to prevent attacks on the street”. The truth will be somewhere in between.

Monkey hunting with the slingshot

Around 500 to 700 monkeys are said to live around the Taj Mahal.

While Donald Trump visits the Taj Mahal, a security lock applies to the residents of Agras. This means that no one is allowed to leave their home during this time. At least while Trump is driving from the airport to the temple.

What is still relatively easy to implement in humans is becoming more difficult with our animal relatives. Between 500 and 700 monkeys are said to live around the Taj Mahal, and they are known for not being very friendly. Loud “India Today»The primates are said to have attacked numerous tourists.

So that Donald and Melania Trump do not face the same fate, the police officers from Agra have armed themselves. With slingshots.

A local police officer told India Today that the slingshots are a relatively good deterrent against individual monkeys, “but when it comes to whole monkey troops, the slingshot is completely ineffective.”

The policeman said:

«The monkeys’ terror is so pervasive that women and children are afraid to climb the roof of their houses. If such a large group of monkeys attacks Donald Trump’s entourage, there will be a catastrophe. »

The Secret Service is responsible for the security of the President. What exactly they would do with an attacking monkey is not known.

Flush a river

Not only are the monkeys a problem in Agra, the authorities are also concerned with the olfactory circumstances surrounding the Taj Mahal.

In short: it stinks.

The reason for this is the Yamuna River, which flows behind the temple. It should be very dirty and spread a bad smell.

To deal with this problem, it was decided to flush the river, well. Jal Singh Meena, an officer in the government agency that manages the sewer network, said «Reuters»That 17 million liters of water are fed into the river. “The extra water will remove the bad smell.”

Well then: Namaste, Trump!
