FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT WASHINGTON Not the million-dollar march, as announced by the organizers. But the pro Trump movement exists and materializes Saturday afternoon in downtown Washington. Several thousand people have come largely from neighboring Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio. All convinced that the system is stealing the elections, that Trump must still remain in the Oval Office for another four years.

The Donald leaves the White House around 10 to go golfing at his club in Sterling, Virginia. He comes back in the afternoon, leaving open the possibility of showing up in some way with his supporters.

The procession moves towards 1 pm The most feared formation, that of the Proud Boys, is placed in the lead. There will be a hundred, maximum two hundred. We follow them for about twenty minutes. They are mostly males in their thirties or forties. Many wear helmets, goggles, hunting jackets. Some look at you grimly, others with indifference. Nerd beards, black handkerchiefs instead of masks. One of them, who says his name is Sam and has Italian maternal grandparents, breaks the silence: I come from the Charleston area (South Carolina, ed). We are not here to create accidents or unrest, we want to express our anger and then we go home.

And in fact, at least until mid-afternoon (late evening in Italy) only a few scuffles are reported; no major confrontation. Black Lives Matter activists had gathered in front of the White House on the street that now bears the organization’s name. But they were very few, not even a hundred. Many Trumpians have passed from there, even alone, with flags and signs drawn in felt-tip pen: Stop the Steal, the most popular slogan. Nobody touched or bothered them. They were ignored. Same thing with reversed parts. We saw a slightly altered African American moving slowly on a scooter towards the vanguard of the parade, shouting the most classic insult: Vaffa Trump. The Proud Boys let him pass without even touching him. We stop and see the demonstration go by. The faces soften. There are many women, a lady in a wheelchair, guys. Then here’s a couple in masks: he Captain America, she Wonder Woman (we are from Ohio). A young woman distributes leaflets inviting all patriots and people of faith to the Jericho March. What does it mean? We will meet every day, at 12, until December 14th, and we will go around the Capitol Hill of different cities, as well as Joshua marching around the walls of Jericho every day until they collapse.

US, pro Trump demonstration in Washington: protest for the theft of the elections
Attention to dates: December 14, the day on which the Electoral College will meet to appoint the president. In theory this is the deadline to reverse the election result. Even if the votes in the poised states will be certified first. In Pennsylvania, for example, on November 23. At that point the chances of Trump and his lawyers could really go to zero.
