Florida Highway Patrol agents are investigating a fatal accident Sunday morning involving a pickup truck carrying 11 people when it crashed on Interstate 95 in Volusia County.

Police said the 2000 Ford passenger van veered off the road around 5:30 a.m. near Ormond Beach and rolled into northbound lanes.

The roof ripped during the impact and the occupants of the van were ejected, according to investigators.

At least three people were killed in the crash late Sunday morning, including a 4-year-old girl, a 19-year-old girl and another person whose age or gender has not yet been disclosed, Lt. Kim Montes reported.

Several other passengers were taken to three hospitals in the area. Four passengers were taken to Halifax Medical Center, three were taken to Florida Adventhealth and a 3-year-old boy was airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, according to Montes.
