JAKARTA – Artificial Intelligence (AI) now has a new task, which is to find treasures from outer space that have fallen to earth. This method has even been practiced by a group of scientists from Field Museum University, Chicago, United States when they found it meteorite big in Antarctica a few weeks ago.

At that time, they managed to find five meteorites that had been trapped in the Antarctic ice sheet for tens of thousands of years. One of the most special findings is a monster meteorite measuring almost eight kilograms or the size of a melon.

Is known Antarctica , which includes the South Pole, is the most ideal area to find meteorites. It’s just that most of the meteorites found are very small.

It is different from the meteorite found by Field Museum University scientists because of its very large size. Moreover, they found it in the conditions of very deep ice caps.

“Finding meteorites of this size is very rare and really exciting. Studying meteorites can make us better understand our place in the universe. The bigger the meteorite, the easier it is for us to understand our solar system,” explained Maria Valdes from the University’s Field Museum.

The discovery of the monster meteorite was made possible by the use of artificial intelligence (AI). The AI technology allows them to map the area carefully.

In the past, researchers had to painstakingly scour the permafrost for any object that might be spotted. Unlike what was done by Maria Valdes and her colleagues.
