Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival: Possible Motive Revealed Amidst Tragedy

Earlier this summer, Travis Scott was cleared of criminal liability in connection with the tragic crowd rush that occurred during his Astroworld Festival in November 2021. The incident resulted in the untimely deaths of 10 fans and left numerous others injured. Now, recent developments shed light on a possible reason behind Scott’s decision to continue acting amidst the chaos.

A report released by the Houston Police Department has revealed a major deal between Scott and Appledetailing that the company was willing to pay Scott an impressive $4.5 million under certain conditions, one of which was the performance of the concert.

The police report reveals that the participation of Apple at the event was a last minute decision, as the company came on as a sponsor to possibly relieve some of the financial pressure on Scott and his organization. It seems that the partnership with Apple was aimed at helping mitigate debt incurred by the construction of the elaborate mountain-shaped stage. The addition of a new partner so late in the game could also have led to disagreements over logistical matters like camera placement.

Following the tragic incident, a significant amount of public debate ensued around whether Scott should have canceled the concert in light of the unfolding crisis. Some videos of the event seemed to indicate that Scott might have observed trouble within the crowd, and yet, the show went on.

While some believe that he was responsible for stopping the event, others argue that his point of view from the stage could have made it difficult to understand the seriousness of the situation. Scott’s girlfriend, the reality TV star Kylie Jennerlater claimed that they were not aware of the extent of the chaos until after the concert ended, and if they had known, they would have stopped the music immediately.

The recently revealed police report sheds new light on the situation, indicating that Scott had a financial incentive substantial to continue with the concert. However, this revelation does not necessarily invalidate Scott’s claim that he did not fully perceive or understand the severity of the crowd’s angst. Although this new addition to the reveal might cast a negative image of the rapper for some, it’s not conclusive and doesn’t necessarily change anything.
