“Last Generation” Activists Target Munich with Weeks of Protests

In the past few days, the “Last Generation” has been active mainly in Franconia, now they want to target Munich. From then on it starts.

On Saturday, the “Last Generation” activists again attracted a lot of attention: They disturbed Prime Minister Markus Söder on a bike ride in Nuremberg. Several days earlier, they brought traffic in Nuremberg and Würzburg to a standstill.

For Monday and Tuesday, they announced that they would carry out sit-ins on all major streets in Regensburg. On Thursday (August 24) the activists want to block streets all over Munich, according to the group’s press release. They also announced their protests on Instagram.

“Last Generation” announces weeks of protests in Munich

“We will turn Munich into a protest stronghold for weeks and thus bring the federal government’s breach of the constitution into the public eye,” continues the “Last Generation”.

Above all, Prime Minister Söder’s policies angered the activists. The “Last Generation” claims that he is jeopardizing the basic right to life, physical integrity and human dignity. They also accuse him of the sluggish expansion of wind energy in Bavaria.

On Saturday, the “Last Generation” tried to interrupt a bike ride from Söder in Middle Franconia. They didn’t succeed at first because the police quickly intervened. However, activists and Prime Minister met later. The “Last Generation” entered the beer garden where Söder sat with his party friends after the bike ride. Here you can read more about it.

Söder himself did not speak up after meeting the activists in Nuremberg. The prime minister is in campaign mode and continued to tour Bavaria on Sunday. Among other things, he attended the Arberkirchweih in Lower Bavaria and a craft festival in Upper Franconia. It is quite possible that he will meet the activists of the “last generation” again in the coming weeks.
