Travel, schools, borders …: the rules of deconfinement become more and more flexible

The deconfinement is not yet total but the situation is evolving in the right direction. Little reminder of what we can do (or not).

Dince this weekend, Belgians are allowed to visit family members residing in Germany, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg or the Netherlands. They can also cross the border to make purchases in these countries, provided they comply with the measures in force. These authorizations do not however concern France, where only essential travel is permitted.

This Tuesday, June 2, the little ones will be able to return to school. Children in kindergarten are allowed to return to classes all day without any restrictions (no wearing of masks, no respect for social distance).

On June 8, primary students will be able to return to school.

Which is still not allowed

The figures being better than expected, the sun helping, the Belgians tend to forget the rules of confinement which are however still applicable. Gatherings are still prohibited, and sitting on a public bench is also not allowed, said the police.

Long-awaited National Security Council

This Wednesday, February 3, the National Security Council should authorize a large part of the hotel industry to reopen on Monday, June 8.

During this CNS should probably also review the rule of “4 relatives”. Erika Vlieghe, chair of the panel of experts, said the rule had “reached its limits” and offered to review it.

An announcement that many Belgians are also waiting for is the one concerning trips abroad. If some countries start to reopen their borders, it should not be forgotten that Belgium prohibits non-essential travel abroad until June 7.
