The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has adjusted travel advice for Australia due to the severe forest fires in the country. For the southeastern state of New South Wales the advice is to make only necessary journeys.
In New South Wales, a state of emergency applies from Friday due to the continuing and expanding forest fires. Local authorities have already advised residents and tourists to leave the state and travel to safe areas.
According to the ministry, no special security risks currently apply to the rest of Australia. It is, however, warned that the situation can change quickly if the fires spread even further.
New South Wales contains some of Australia’s most popular destinations among tourists, particularly on the east coast. Capital city Canberra and Sydney are in the state.

Burning stubbornly due to record heat and drought
Australia has been in the grip of forest fires since November. Due to the extreme drought and increasing heat, the fires start quickly and spread out. The Australian fire department has great difficulty with extinguishing work.
According to the Australian Bureau of Meteorology, 2019 was the hottest year ever in Australia. The temperature was one and a half degrees higher than average in the past year.
