“Jabba was a feared leader. I will be a respected leader,” says Boba Fett in the first trailer of The Boba Fett Book. Disney is laying the groundwork for its premiere on December 29, which will be the second real-action television foray into the universe of Star Wars after the success of The Mandalorian, which not only knew how to channel the television conversation but has been nominated twice for the Emmy for the best drama series.
The video, for the record, doesn’t tell us anything we didn’t know either. In the opening credits of the second season finale of The Mandalorian, Jon Favreau hid a scene from this spin-off– Boba Fett and Fennec Shand played by Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen could be seen settling on the throne of Tatooine. The objective? Settling down as the area’s crime boss.
It seems that while The Mandalorian explore the journey of a hero through space while trying to protect Baby Yoda, here Disney offers an opposite story: that of the anti-hero with less moral principles and comfortable as a criminal. And what surprise have we had when we saw this trailer? Find out that Jennifer Beals, the actress known for roles in Fame O The L Word, will be part of the cast.
The creator of The Mandalorian, Jon Favreau, serves as an executive producer along with a code name from the current universe of Star Wars, Dave Filoni, creator or indispensable member of the animated series. Robert Rodriguez, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson round out the executive producing team.
