The dialogue with the Ministry of Health on the pandemic is bad, says the mayor of Sofia

The situation with the hospitals is very difficult, 2015 people are hospitalized, 330 people are in intensive care, the problem is in the beds and the specialists, the hospitals are overloaded, I saw it myself.
We do not have a good dialogue with the Ministry of Health, we are trying to help from the sidelines. The municipal headquarters has not stopped working, we are trying at the local level, we receive information from the media and from the RHI, we do not participate in the meetings of the ministry. The municipal hospitals are extremely busy, they work actively, they also provide the vaccination teams.
I spoke several times with the Minister of Education, they did not hear our proposal to postpone the closure, my opinion is that the schools should have been closed last, but they were the first. We hear about organization, about tests, teachers are not informed about what is expected of them.
I am talking about a serious dialogue, because responsible decisions must be made. Tests for children provide another filter. I still think that students from 1st to 4th grade should go back to school, of course with a filter.
In case of lockdown, compensatory mechanisms for the economy must be adopted. I listen to the statements from the Minister every day that it can happen that it will not happen, there is confusion, Fandakova commented.
She also answered questions about Toplofikacia Sofia. According to the mayor of Sofia, there are two important tasks, one of which is urgent – finding compensation mechanisms for the company due to the difference in gas prices. For this month it was BGN 95, and in the price at which it sells thermal energy, the price of gas is fixed by the EWRC at BGN 45. The deficit is BGN 153 million only from this difference. “I hope we will unite with the state to modernize Sofia District Heating to build cogeneration,” she added.
