Canal excavation project near TransJakarta bus stop Pinang Cottage, South Jakarta, causing long traffic jams. This is how it looks.

Several car horns sounded. detikcom takes about 30 minutes to cover a distance of about 2 Km because of this traffic jam.

Meanwhile, a number of officers, from the Department of Transportation (Dishub) to the police, were seen controlling the speed of the vehicles. The traffic jam occurred because the excavation project made only half of the road passable.

Previously, Head of the South Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department, Bernard Pasaribu, explained that the project there was the work of the DKI Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Agency. There is a water channel (drainage) that must be repaired so that the PUPR housing complex and the nearby Pondok Indah area are no longer flooded.

“We routinely place Transportation Agency members at the location,” said Bernard Pasaribu detikcom.
