Traditional company in new hands – Gutach im Breisgau

Appraiser construction company Schtzle has given up deals.

(BZ). The company existed for almost 100 years, now the Schtzle construction company has been closed for lack of a successor. Schtzles and their employees look back gratefully on the decades of loyalty of their customers, in particular the companies Gtermann (now A&E), Elztalbrennerei Weis, Weener (formerly Ilkenhans), Hummel and the city of Waldkirch as well as many architects.

The construction company was founded in 1923 by Hermann Wlfle as a one-man business, says Bernhard Schtzle. Supported by high-quality work, the company has grown to ten employees, specializing in the field of new buildings. In 1957 the construction company took over Erwin Schtzle, who in turn was a master bricklayer. In a press release, the company wrote that he had succeeded in promoting the vision of a highly specialized company. In 1976 – as the only company in the southern Baden region – concrete burning was integrated into the field of activity. Concrete parts are separated with an oxygen lance, with temperatures of up to 3000 degrees Celsius being reached. In the following years, concrete and drilling work were added to the company’s repertoire. Furthermore, by offering hydraulic blasting, a possibility of clean and safe demolition technology has been integrated into the portfolio.

Bernhard Schtzle (son of Erwin Schtzle and his wife Frida) completed an apprenticeship at the construction company Hopp + Hofmann in Freiburg. After several years of apprenticeship training, a stay abroad followed on a major construction site in Baghdad, Iraq. Subsequently, he successfully passed the master’s examination. Then Bernhard Schtzle (master mason) and his wife Friederike (commercial clerk) joined the company. At this time, a building yard with an office building, open space and social space in Kollnau, Am Schmelzofen 9, was purchased.

The principle of constant willingness to innovate has been consistently pursued. The fields of activity would have been in various extensions, conversions and renovation work as well as in the production of floodplain systems and demolition technology. In order to be able to carry out this professionally, numerous certificates have been obtained, including in the areas of asbestos and mold growth.

The topic of sewer rehabilitation has become particularly important in recent years. As a result, Elztler Kanal Sanierung GmbH (EKS) was founded in 1997 as a joint venture between Bernhard Schtzle Bauunternehmung from Gutach and Peter Wei, sewer and pipe cleaning service from Simonswald. For the new company, trenchless sewer rehabilitation was seen as an opportunity to create jobs.

For both, the focus was on doing the future renovation work on the sewers in the region with a company that is at home in the Elz Valley and does not have long journeys. The company Peter Wei, which has been involved in sewer cleaning for years and knows the problems of aging sewers, was looking for a professional from the building trade, and Schtzle Bau also saw future opportunities.

Even if the construction company Schtzle is now closing, at least the jointly managed Elztler sewer rehabilitation could be handed over to the long-standing employee Axel Gmirek.
