Trade union movement agreement with Tata final after fiat members FNV and CNV | NOW

After the members of CNV, the members of the FNV have now also supported the agreement of the trade union movement with Tata Steel. This means that forced redundancies at the steel producer in IJmuiden have been canceled, FNV reports Tuesday.

The agreement was reached in early July after Tata employees had been on strike in stages for almost a month. They turned against a reorganization plan by Tata Steel Europe, the parent company of the former Hoogovens.

The employees have received an employment guarantee until 2026 and they have to work fewer hours in the run-up to their state pension. According to FNV, the agreement also includes guarantees about more independence for Tata Steel IJmuiden.

Incidentally, the union said in July that it is not excluded that at some point there will be redundancies at the Dutch branch of Tata. The company must then come up with a new, well-substantiated plan that must be discussed with the works council.
