JAKARTA – Traces of a giant dinosaur nesting in Alaska, United States have been found, measuring about 7,500 square meters or larger than a football field.

In fact, these tracks had been discovered in 2010. However, it was only realized that they were traces of dinosaurs that lived 70 million years ago.

Quoted from Science Alert, Friday (18/8/2023), this finding is very interesting for researchers. Not without reason, because the trail also has extraordinary depth, which is as tall as a 20-storey building and has scattered paths.

“It’s not just one level of rock with tracks on it. It’s a chronological sequence,” said paleontologist Dustin Stewart, who led the research while at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

The tracks are a combination of prints made in soft mud which then hardens.

Paleontologist Pat Druckenmiller of the University of Alaska Fairbanks calls the tracks made by dinosaur whose species is not yet known.

Traces found in Alaskan Mountains this is not the only evidence of dinosaur remains. Fossilized plants, pollen grains, and traces of freshwater mussels and invertebrates have also been found in the area.

Dating back to the Late Cretaceous, this area teems with life, with ponds and lakes nearby. The climate is warmer with forests of coniferous and deciduous trees.

“It was wooded and full of dinosaurs. There were tyrannosaurs running around Denali that were many times the size of the largest brown bear there today. There were raptors. There were flying reptiles. There were birds. It was an amazing ecosystem,” said Druckenmiller.
