Tourism: Nadia Fettah announces new measures for this week

Tourism Minister Nadia Fettah said on Wednesday that measures to aid the tourism sector in Morocco must be operational “from this week”.

“The priority is to sustain employment and relieve companies’ cash flow. The measures capable of achieving these two objectives will be operational as of this week ”, said the minister.

Referring to the program contract which should be used to relaunch the tourism sector for 2020-2022, the Minister declared that “ aims to favor the maintenance of employment and relieve the cash flow of companies ”.

Several measures should be put in place as of this week and others should be introduced in the coming days, she said. These measures should be gradually declined according to the evolution of the situation, underlined the Minister of Tourism, Crafts, Air Transport and Social Economy.

Affirming that the officials of the tourism ministry have listened to the expectations and grievances of operators in the sector, the minister said: “We have therefore drawn together the outlook for 2021 and 2022, it being understood that the latter will be the subject of a permanent and responsible assessment, and will therefore be revisited and adjusted according to the development of the situation”.

In addition, the tourism ministry has chosen to secure the most fragile players and support operators, in particular by rethinking their business model and giving them ideas on the transformation opportunities that the post-coronavirus sector will experience.

Nadia Fettah Alaoui also looked at one of the great lessons of this crisis, namely the weight of the informal sector in the sector which has put a large part of tourism operators in precariousness and vulnerability.
