Yes. They have better prepared the management of this match. Mentally, they were stronger. When we arrived here, we saw that the conditions would be difficult with this wind. But we did not know how to do the “switch” in the head. Having said that, that shouldn’t be an excuse.
What would have had to be changed seeing these conditions?
It was especially mentally that we had to be ready. We knew that there would be a lot of duels, that it would be difficult to put the game down. After that, we didn’t shoot enough in the second half. I think we only hit a shot on target, with the free kick from Branco. It’s not much.
How was it, on the pitch, to play this match?
Very complicated… When you play against the wind, the opposing team will play high, because they know that you will not be able to use long balls. When you play short, there will always be someone to rush you. We would have needed a lot more moves and combinations, things we tried to do at times in the first half. In second, we had fewer movements without the ball. It was the key to the game.
Did you confuse speed and haste in the second half?
We should have put the game down. We tried too hard to play fast forward, and we abused long balls a little.
Did the fact that you could have been a leader by winning play a role?
