Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli was slightly injured in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday after a brutal burglary at his home in London. The Englishman confronted two men with knives.
Various English media report that the burglars entered Alli’s house just after midnight. He was then with his brother, their two partners and a close friend. The five of them spend the lockdown together.
Alli was threatened with a knife by the burglars, after which he was hit in the face during the scuffle. However, these are minor injuries, so he did not have to go to the hospital for observation.
The burglars stole jewelry and watches. They have fled and have not yet been arrested. The local police emphasize that the investigation is still in progress. The images from the surveillance cameras have been confiscated.
Vertonghen was also a victim of robbery
Alli is not the only Tottenham player who has recently fallen victim to a robbery. Two months ago, Jan Vertonghen’s house was broken into when he was in Germany for the Champions League game with RB Leipzig (3-0).
So Vertonghen was not at home at the time, but his wife and children were, and four men threatened them with knives. Nobody was injured, but the burglars could flee there with an unknown loot.
In England, as in almost all European countries, the corona crisis is not currently playing football. The Premier League plans to resume the competition next month, but is still waiting for permission from the British government.
