According to the representatives of the Latgale embassy “Gors”, the idea of ​​a performance dedicated to the poet, publicist, Latgale narrator Anna Rancāne came a couple of years ago, thinking about the anniversary of Rancāne, which was celebrated last year.

The concert performance “Latgolys freska” is presented as a symbolic journey around the poet’s special places in Latgale, which she likes to show to others who are inspiring and delighted. The stories of Rāzna, Rogovka, Piedruja, Krāslava, the Daugava circle, Rēzekne and Daugavpils will be sung by the Latvian Radio Choir under the direction of conductor Sigvards Kļava, Biruta Ozoliņa (voice, kokle), Rihards Plešanovs (piano), Aleksandrs Maijers Ingars Gusāns or Sovvaļnīks (voice, electric guitar), Mārcis Lipskis (bass, mandolin, saw), Jurģis Lipskis (percussion), Agate Pooka (violin) and Pēteris Vaickovskis (trombone), but Anna Rancāne and the New Riga Theater actress herself will tell .

The concert performance consists of its artistic director, conductor Sigvards Kļava, director Viesturs Kairišs, artist Ieva Jurjāne, choreographer Jana Jacuka, sound director Andris Ūze and lighting director Mārtiņš Feldmanis. The concert performance will feature works by Andrejs Selicks, Rihards Zaļupe, Jānis Ivanovs, Ingars Gusāns, Oskars Stroks, as well as Latgalian folk songs and sacred songs.

Anna Rancāne is one of the brightest symbols of modern Latgale – both in literature and journalism, as well as in the social and cultural life of Latgale. The premiere of the play “Latgolys freska” was scheduled for this spring, but with the onset of the ‘Covid-19’ pandemic, it was postponed to September. Instead of the planned one performance, so that everyone can experience the performance, there will be two performances on September 12 – at 16.00 and 19.00. The concert performance will later be shown on Latvian Television.

Dedication to Anna Rancāne is one of the events of Latvia’s centenary program.
