The first episode of the 2021 edition of Top chef, broadcast on M6 Wednesday February 10, allowed the four members of the jury to constitute their brigade for the remainder of the season. Thirteen candidates thus entered the culinary competition. Philippe Etchebest, Michel Saran, Hélène Darroze and Paul Pairet will each supervise three cooks. Jarvis Scott came close to elimination, but was drafted as a “lone candidate”.
Two participants, on the other hand, remained on the sidelines after a “last chance test” around the theme of the carrot. Neither Lyon chef Adrien Zedda, 26, nor his Japanese opponent Yohei Hosaka, 37, managed to convince the jurors.
Four women and nine men
Previously, some candidates had already been chosen by the brigade leaders during two challenges. On the first, half of the participants were instructed to make a sweet preparation. During the second round, the candidates had to seduce the four great chefs by revisiting a popular dish in their own way. Finally, four women and nine men will face each other in this twelfth season of Top chef placed under the sign of “Unlimited creativity”.
Hélène Darroze’s red brigade brings together Chloé Charles, Sarah Mainguy and Mohamed Cheikh. The purple team supervised by Paul Pairet is made up of Pierre Chomet, Baptiste Trudel and Pauline Séné. For his yellow brigade, Michel Sarran has selected Thomas Chisholm, Bruno Aubin and Arnaud Baptiste. As for Philippe Etchebest, he will be able to count in his blue team on Matthias Marc, Mathieu Vande Velde and the winner ofTop Chef objective Charline Stengel.
