Top 5 Global PC Vendors Q-II 2022, Top Lenovo

KOMPAS.comInternational Data Corporation (IDC) released a new report on shipping computer or PC worldwide for Q2 (Q2) 2022.

In a report released, this research company noted the number of traditional PC shipments globally. Traditional PCs in question are desktop computers and laptop without involving tablets.

The report, entitled Worldwide Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracker, shows that computer shipments in the second quarter of 2022 fell 15.3 percent over the same period last year, to 71.3 million units.

According to IDC, the reason for the decline in PC shipments was due to worsening supply and logistics constraints due to the lockdown in China. Another cause is macroeconomic constraints that occur continuously.

“Recession fears continue to escalate and weaken demand across all segments,” said Jitesh Ubrani, Research Manager for Mobile Devices at IDC. KompasTekno from the official IDC page, Wednesday (13/7/2022).

“Consumer demand for PCs has declined in the short term and is at risk of being lost in the long term as consumers become more stringent in their spending and get used to computing on multiple devices such as phones and tablets,” he added.

Although demand weakened in the second quarter of 2022, the volume of PC shipments was still comparable to the beginning of the pandemic, or in the second quarter of 2020, which was 74.3 million.

The number of shipments is also still higher than in 2018 (62.1 million units) and 2019 (65.1 million units).

Top 5 PC vendors in the world

In the same report, IDC summarizes the top 5 PC vendors in the world that contributed to PC shipments in the second quarter of 2022.

In general, the top three vendors are vendors who occupy the same position in the previous quarter, namely Lenovo with shipments of 17.5 million units, HP (13.5 million units) and Dell (13.2 million units).

The other vendors are Acer (5 million units), Apple (4.8 million units) and Asus (4.7 million units). IDC itself stated that it equalized vendors with a percentage difference of 0.1 percent or less than 0.1 percent. For example, in this case, Apple and Asus are only 0.1 percent different.

Therefore, both are still included in the top 5 PC vendors in the world, although in practice there are 6 vendors involved. Here are the details:
