Melted in a hug, this is how the former Nicaraguan politician, Tamara Dávila and her little daughter were captured, after 20 months of not seeing each other physically. This beautiful moment happened on the night of this Holy Thursday at an airport in the United States, where the activist has been in exile since February of this year.

Dávila did not see her daughter because the Ortega Murillo dictatorship arbitrarily arrested her on June 12, 2021, when the Sandinista police forcibly took her from her home in Managua in the presence of her little girl, then she was detained from that date in the cells of Nuevo Chipote.

«Today, Thursday, April 6, at 8pm, I was finally able to meet my free daughter again, after a year and 8 months of being separated. I am deeply grateful to the Government and people of the United States for facilitating this reunification, which I hope will soon arrive for all the families of people released from political prison. I appreciate the company, solidarity and affection of all the people who have fought for our freedom and family reunification », quotes Dávila’s message on his social networks.

She was part of the 222 political prisoners who were exiled to the United States, and later stripped of their Nicaraguan nationality by the Ortega Murillo dictatorship, as part of the systematic repression that it maintains against its critics in Nicaragua.
