It ended after the 2018 season – when he was in his second stay at IFK Gothenburg. He has since worked as a coach.
Before the 2022 season, Hysén took over Tvååkers IF, and during the debut season he led the team to seventh place in Ettan Södra.
So it was also year two at the club – but in November this year it was clear that he was leaving his job as coach. He has not yet taken on any new assignment.
In an interview with Gothenburg Post Hysén now speaks out about his thoughts on the future of the coaching profession.
– If I’m going to jump on something, it needs to feel just right for me to spend that time. I feel that it can be anything and that it doesn’t have to be the head coach of an A team, he says and continues:
Want to be out on the pitch.
– If it’s something that feels interesting, it can be anything, but I want to be out on the pitch. It is the primary thing for me to be at matches and training. Since what level it is about is not so particular.
Furthermore, Hysén says that he currently does not feel that he can invest fully in the coaching profession – but it is something he wants to continue with.
– Absolutely. I think it’s great fun and for two years I’ve had the chance to experience what works and what doesn’t. I have found some sort of idea of what I am good at and what I am less good at, says the 41-year-old.
A few years ago, Hysén was attack coach for IFK Gothenburg. He does not think that a return to the club is relevant at the moment.

– I think they (IFK) got a little burned by the talk about returnees. They are probably quite afraid to bring in too many former employees or players. I have no dialogue there now and don’t know if my name is on the wallpaper or not. I’m not speculating on that, but it’s about proving myself at the level I’m at now and then we’ll see in the future. It is a hypothetical question at the moment, he tells Göteborgs-Posten.
Earlier in December, Hysén was linked with the coaching job in Stenungsunds IF, which resides in Division 2.
