Hall of Fame: a “weak” vintage in 2021

Like Jarome Iginla and Marian Hossa, who will enter the Hockey Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility, several players will try to achieve the feat in 2021.

Here they are:

Henrik and Daniel Sedin

The twins have been rain and shine throughout their careers with the Vancouver Canucks. Selected in second and third place in the 1999 draft, the brothers were inseparable and their chemistry on the ice was incomparable. Henrik and Daniel had 1070 and 1041 points respectively in 1330 and 1306 games.

The two of them won several individual trophies and even won an Olympic gold medal. The only downside is that they never got their hands on the most precious trophy, the Stanley Cup, they who however came very close to the ultimate goal in 2011, when they were eliminated in seven games by the Boston Bruins in the final.

This detail could make the difference between an enthronement in their first year of eligibility or an enthronement in a later year. It remains to be seen whether the twins will enter the Hall of Fame as they did in the National Hockey League: together.

Henrik Zetterberg

Henrik Zetterberg spent his entire 15-year career in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Detroit Red Wings, amassing 960 points in 1082 games.

The best moments of the one who was drafted in the seventh round (210th overall) in 1999 came during the 2007-2008 season, when he concluded his year by lifting the Stanley Cup.

At the same time, he obtained the Conn-Smythe trophy, awarded to the most useful player in the playoffs. The Swede also added an Olympic gold medal to his neck in 2006 in Turin.

Patrick Sharp

The figures and exploits of Patrick Sharp will no doubt allow him to make his point for an induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame, even if, most of the time, he acted as a complement to the star players he encountered.

However, the striker has lifted the Stanley Cup three times, all with the Chicago Blackhawks.

He also won the gold medal at the Sochi Olympics in 2014. During his 15-season career with the Blackhawks, Philadelphia Flyers and Dallas Stars, Sharp collected 620 points in 939 games.
