Tkáč opened a grocery store with a robot in Bratislava. It cost over a hundred million crowns

The Jarvis robot, named after the Ironman movie, will help customers shop with their consent. Thanks to this, they can shop here even after closing time. It is now under development. “We are trying to develop it on many fronts. Food is the right place where we can test it, “said Tkáč in an interview for a Slovak magazine Trend.

Smart technology will work on the principle of facial biometrics, everything will be monitored by cameras. “The customer comes, the robot opens it, identifies his face, the customer buys and pays electronically,” Tkáč explained. It also creates a purchase history for registered customers. “In this way, people have exactly the same purchase they made, which they made a month ago, for example,” said the businessman, denying the misuse of data collection.

The store also has a wine cellar with an extensive collection from all over the world. Wines from the entrepreneur’s personal collection are also available. Developers now teach the robot to recognize different types of wine and help people make choices. “For example, the customer will be able to taste the wines that I like, which I recommend. If the customer chooses such an option, the light in the room will dim and the spot light will show him where such wine is in our wine shop, “Tkáč explained.

He weaves according to the Slovak server Index he originally wanted to merge with the Yeme retail chain, but he was not interested. Businessman doing this in an interview for a magazine Trend refuted. “The customer will also find Yeme brand products with us, especially from the fresh buffet, but also many other products. We support them. With Peter Varmuza (Head of Yeme – editor’s note) we know each other and help each other. Although there is a lot of talk and writing about the competition between us, we are not competitors, but partners, “said Tkáč.

However, Tkáč does not plan to expand with other stores. “We have investments in the Sandberg fund, which is owned by Terno and Kraj (retail chains in Slovakia – editor’s note). It is our main project, it would not make sense to expand, “he explained.

For example, the CCC fashion chain is attempting partial automation in the Czech Republic. A special 3D foot scanner is available at the Prague branch in the Nový Smíchov shopping center. He creates a three-dimensional model of the customer’s foot on the spot, compares it with the shoes on offer and selects those that match the profile. The customer chooses the shoes via a tablet and the employees in the background of the store send them to him on the treadmill within three minutes.
