Timur Bartels on his 2020 tops and flops and big plans

December 26th, 2020 8:38 pm

Timur Bartels is one of the hopeful actors in Germany who also had to do well in the pandemic year 2020. klatsch-tratsch.de checked how it was and where the journey should go.

2020 was a very enlightening year for the 25-year-old actor and singer. He “became more aware of what really matters, namely one’s own health or the health of the people I love and the cohesion.” The “Club of Red Ribbons” star told him this and more in our Christmas interview. His conclusion: “At the end of the day we are all in the same boat”.

Professionally, Timur Bartels, who was shown in the cinema in Til Schweiger’s comedy “Die Hochzeit” in 2020 and is solo again, was able to use the time for completely new projects: lots of new music and in spring his YouTube channel will start with completely different formats!

What were your top 3 and your flop 3 this year?

Flop 1 was that many, including me, made fun of Corona and it was not taken seriously. Flop 2 for me were the extreme lateral thinkers and politicians who used this crisis as an opportunity to separate society instead of bringing it together. And flop 3 for me was dealing with gastronomy and cultural workers. For the most part, restaurateurs have invested heavily and found constructive solutions for dealing with Covid 19 – cultural workers have ensured equilibrium and balance for the people in quarantine and hardly received any government aid.

Top 1 for me was decelerating the world of work, because I think that the pressure to perform is one of the worst phenomena, especially in young society. We all now had time to reflect – where each one would like to go. Top 2 for me is the great surge in digitization – because most business trips have long been superfluous and are now correctly resolved via video conferences.
And top 3 for me was that I was able to develop myself creatively and have started to set up new projects that are very fulfilling for me, such as the YouTube channel coming next year.

Who surprised you the most this year?

The conspiracy theorists with the wildest theories such as that the pandemic is only there to better control us through the corona tests, small nano chips that are planted in the brain.

Who or what upset you the most this year?

The government’s dealings with restaurateurs, poor pay for hospital and nursing staff, and pay for people in retail. These people definitely deserved more and some measures were taken to treat them extremely unfairly. Despite everything, I also have the greatest respect for the decision-makers in this country, as it was or is an absolutely exceptional situation. I think that a lot has also been done right by our government.

You just shot until just before Christmas.

I’ve shot different things. Various films and series projects for TV, but even more exciting for me was my own shoot on my YouTube channel. There will be different formats such as “Timur’s Table” – a cooking format that is for everyone – including recipes with which you can impress either the family or a Tinder date. Or another really exciting format “Timur With Characters”. I speak to people who inspire and inspire me personally: from street rappers and stories from prison to influencers with a huge reach, or from Olympic champions and other athletes to entrepreneurs with visions to change the world and also huge wealth. People who have an exciting view of life and dealing with obstacles. Above all, it is also about what the other side of the coin is, i.e. the sides that most people do not see in such successful people.

Your second mainstay is music. You have announced many new songs for 2020.

From March 2021 I would like to release a new song every four weeks on Spotify, Itunes, YouTube & Co. The music is becoming more poppy than before and I’ve written a lot, and a lot has been thrown away. There are only the songs that come from my heart and really tell something from my life.

Will you stay attached to hip hop or will you try something else?

As I said, the music has become a lot more poppy because it just suits me better. The first songs were still my musical discovery phase – but it could happen that a rapper ends up on a song of mine.

Please explain to us your blatant figure. What did you have to do for that?

I used the quarantine time to do sports at home – I try to eat a healthy and vegetarian diet and do not exercise for a particularly long, but particularly intense. I think sport is extremely important, especially if you are not in a job where you do physical work every day. It is also good for depression or listlessness.

How were the Christmas holidays?

I spent Christmas with my mom and brother. Before that, I was at my father’s grave and met a friend. Otherwise I stick to the rules and only meet with someone else’s household. But I also do a lot of group video chats with my friends in the evenings.

What did you not want to do without over the holidays?

I also didn’t want to forego the fact that I really switch off. I tend to work a lot, but now I’m really going to charge my own energy stores. It’s so important, even if you love your job.

What are your plans for 2021?

From March a new video will be posted on YouTube once a week. I want to keep producing and releasing new songs and music videos and I will make new series and films. Either way, the year is already relatively full. But I’m also thinking about hiking part of the Camino de Santiago or traveling through Norway in a motorhome. Because I’ve never seen the northern lights.
