Tilburg Trappers now sole Scorpions pursuer

Reading time: approx. 5 minutes

Even if the Hanover Scorpions had to sit out again in the Oberliga Nord due to pandemic reasons, one thing is certain for them now. The Tilburg Trappers turned out to be the winners of the pursuit duel and are now the only pursuers.

In the next few weeks it will be hotly about third place after the Hanover Indians have approached Halle up to 0.03 points on Sunday. The same applies to fifth place, where there is the same point difference between the Crocodiles Hamburg and the Herner EV. The difference in the battle for seventh place is even narrower. With their success, the Black Dragons Erfurt overtook the Icefighters Leipzig and are 0.01 points ahead. And a duel is also fought for ninth place. The Diez-Limburgers are still ahead of Krefeld with 0.05 points.

Icefighters Leipzig – Hannover Indians 4:6 (0:0, 2:3, 2:3)

The Indians are back on the warpath. After the relatively close 4: 6 during the week in Leipzig, the 5: 1 against Hamburg, Leipzig was followed by a deserved 6: 4. With this they consolidated fourth place and came within 0.03 points of Halle’s Saale Bulls. If the first third remained goalless in Leipzig, despite all the intensity, the events in the second section changed drastically. Michal Velecky gave the Icefighters the lead in the 26th minute, but when the Leipzigers afforded one man too many on the ice and Velecky had to go to the penalty box, that was enough for the Indians to equalize by Branislav Pohanka (32nd). This brought on the Indian-Canadian Brett Bulmer, who was in top form in the last ten minutes of the third. With two goals (34th, 37th), he changed the sign to a Hanoverian victory, but the Leipzig team still had their Michal Velecky. This met in the 40th minute to 2: 3. In the last 20 minutes, the drama of the second third was topped again. Branislav Pohanka (46th) scored with a single action to make it 4-2 for the guests, who shortly thereafter received two penalties that the Leipzigers promptly used. First Sofiene Bräuner (50th) shortened to 3: 4 in the double majority game, then Florian Eichelkraut (51st) equalized. But again in full numbers, Brett Bulmer got the Indians lead again with his third goal of the day (52nd) and when the Leipzig team took their keeper Patrick Glatzel off the ice, Brett Bulmer (60th) promptly met with an empty netter for 6th : 4 final score. With that, Bulmer caught Trappers striker Diego Hofland with 25 goals and only Scorpions striker Wilenius and Diezer Thomas Matheson are still ahead of him.

Crocodiles Hamburg – Rostock Piranhas 4:2 (1:2, 1:0, 2:0)

A deserved victory for the Crocodiles, who have recovered well from their 5-1 defeat on Friday in Hanover. However, the piranhas made life very difficult for their hosts and the victory was only after the final siren in the towel. Norman Martens (6th), Hamburg’s only goalscorer on Friday, quickly brought the Crocodiles into the lead. Two minutes later, there were four players on the ice, Filip Stopinski equalized. After Viktor Östling negotiated a penalty twelve seconds before the end of the third, the piranhas only needed seven seconds for the first game lead. Lukas Koziol was the goal scorer. Norman Martens (28th) scored to equalize in the 27th minute and this score remained until the 50th minute. Then the scorer hunter Dominik Lascheit got his appearance and the Hamburger made sure with a double in the 50th and 55th minute that the three points finally stayed in the Hanseatic city.

Tilburg Trappers – Saale Bulls Hall 5: 3 (1: 3, 2: 0, 2: 0)

Apparently, word hadn’t really got around to Tilburg that the Halle residents are difficult to pack. In any case, the team from Saxony-Anhalt showed a model performance in terms of efficiency. In the seventh minute of the game, Michal Schön and Jannik Striepeke brought their colors 2-0 up, making perfect use of a double majority game. Even when Giovanni Vogelaar shot the Trappers (15th), the Bulls stayed cool and Jannik Striepeke (18th) even made it 3-1, of course again in the majority. Incredible: According to Dutch statistics counters, the Bulls shot four times at Ian Meierdres’ goal and scored three times. This gave them an efficiency of 75 percent, while Meierdres, who is normally in the 90 percent range, snuck off the ice with a 25 percent catch rate. In the second third, the Dutch increased their attack pressure, came to a total of 20: 5 shots on goal and equalized within two minutes. Jonne de Bonth (28th) and Reno de Hondt (30th), the latter outnumbered. The previously heated game then culminated in the 31st minute, when Noah Muller and Tatu Vihavainen dueled with their fists and at the end were allowed to get to know the advantages of an early shower. After that, the encounter became a little quieter, but it wasn’t until the 47th minute that the drama increased again when Kevin Bruijsten put the Trappers in front for the first time. In the 56th minute, Raymond van der Schuit had to go to the penalty box, but the Bulls surprisingly did not take their excellent keeper Jakob Urbisch off the ice. That only happened when van der Schuit came back, but the measure was unsuccessful. In the 60th minute, Danny Stempher finally scored 5: 3.

Black Dragons Erfurt – Herforder EV 5:4 (0:1, 1:2, 3:1, 1:0) n.V.

The Herford team have to attribute this defeat to themselves. In the end, 50:24 shots on goal were counted and instead of at least two points there was only one and that was not enough after the game. The only consolation: they had caught up with the Rostock with 1.00 quotient points. The Herford team was already the dominant team in the first third, but only Marius Garten (16th) was able to overcome Erfurt keeper Konstantin Kessler in the power play. After Maurice Keil (23rd) quickly equalized in the second section, Christophe Lalonde (25th) scored 2-1 for the HEV, this time even outnumbered. Although the Black Dragons were now stronger, they also weakened themselves at the same time with three time penalties in a row and the last misconduct went straight to the bottom when Marius Garten (40th) even marked the 3-1 for Herford. Again the hosts came wide awake from the cabin and Fritz Denner (43rd) cut the game to 2: 3. In the 54th and 55th minute, the drama shot up. First Sean Fischer equalized, then Arnoldas Bosas scored 4: 3. When Erfurts Schüpping picked up a penalty in the 58th minute, the guests took their keeper Ennio Albrecht off the ice and with a double powerplay, Christophe Lalonde even managed to equalize 4: 4. In extra time, Kyle Beach scored 17 seconds before the end of the game to make it 5-4.

Krefelder EV U23 – Herner EV 4: 3 (2: 1, 0: 0, 1: 2, 1: 0) nV

A deserved success for the young people from Krefeld, who dominated especially in the first third, but could not break away. A dream start was achieved when Adrian Grygiel (2nd) immediately took the lead. Practically in return, Patrick Asselin (3rd) equalized, but Matthias Onckels (8th) brought the KEV forward again as soon as possible. After that, the fight increased, but the game remained fair, as only confirmed by five time penalties at that stage. In the 53rd minute, Marcus Marsall equalized for the guests, but Adam Kiedewicz (56th) gave KEV the lead again. Now the Herner took their goalkeeper Jonas Neffin off the ice and were lucky. Again Marcus Marsall scored 3: 3 twenty seconds before the end of the game. Then in the 63rd minute the decision. Patrick Demetz scored to 4: 3 for KEV.
