Thrissur Anti-K Rail Movement: Bananas from Babu’s Field Auctioned for Over 60,000 Rupees

Thrissur: The bananas harvested by the anti-K rail movement went to auction for more than 60,000 rupees. The banana plant obtained from Babu’s field, a resident of Thrissur Palakkal, was auctioned for Rs 60,250. K Rail passes through Babu’s backyard. KV Preman, a native of Palaikkal, bought the bunch. The group bidding for the Palayangkotan banana tree lasted for two hours.

Bananas were planted in different parts of the state in connection with Environment Day. This auction money will be transferred to the housing fund of Thankamma, a widow from Chengannur Mulakuzha, who installed a yellow log inside her house along with K Rail officials and police. There was a big controversy when the peg of K rail was placed in the fireplace inside Thangamma’s house.
