Penalties 10 months to two years in prison pronounced this Monday by the criminal court of Niort in a drug case. Three youths, a 19-year-old woman and two 25-year-old men appeared to have transported ecstasy from Dijon, in Côte-d’Or, to Niort, in Deux-Sèvres. 279 grams of cocaine had also been found in the girl’s bedroom in Niort.
The arrest of the three defendants dates back to September 11, 2019, on a motorway service area in the area ofOrleans, in the Loiret. Investigators find in car 5000 ecstasy pills, about two kilos. At the hearing the trio does not have the same version.
Divergent versions
Romeo, tall and thin, coming from Sarcelles in the Paris region, is the only one not to appear free, indicted in another case that marked a lot last July, for assassination attempt in the Clou-Bouchet district of Niort. He is also the only one to recognize that he knew he was doing something illegal while going to Dijon. Romeo receives 2000 euros for this trip. In the car, there is his girlfriend, Océane. This Niortaise girl with a youthful face explains at the bar that she just made this trip “to accompany him”. There is also Chouaib to whom the president asks: “What was the purpose of this trip to Dijon, mustard?”. Very talkative, he talks about keys to give to someone.
For the prosecutor, no doubt, all were aware of what they were carrying. It highlights the value of the goods, 50,000 euros. He also recalls that the three defendants are recidivism and requires sentences of up to three years in prison with a warrant each time.
Ambiance tense with the statement of sentences
The atmosphere is tense when the president pronounces Océane’s sentence, one year and three months in prison with incarceration right away. When the police approach, she cries in tears “I did not do anything !”. Romeo tears the microphone from the court before him. “There’s no point in talking, you don’t listen to us!”, he says to the president. He was overpowered by the escort who returned him to prison, sentenced him to two years in detention. Only Chouaib sentenced to 10 months in prison in this case and two months for having escaped for a few minutes while in police custody can be released from the court.
