Three police officers are injured in New York during New Year’s celebrations – El Sol de Orizaba

Three police officers were injured in a machete attack near the area where the festivities took place Times Squarethe suspect has been arrested, authorities said New York this Sunday.

Sewell revealed that the inmate, a 19-year-old man, attacked three officers in the head with a machete after 10pm, resulting in two lacerations and one of them also a fractured skull.

One of the officers stopped the attack by shooting the suspect in the shoulder, Sewell said.

The authorities have indicated that they are investigating the incident together with the counter-terrorism team of FBIbut he stressed that there was no credible threat to the city, which has suffered in recent years a marked increase in violence.

According to the abc channel, the inmateadmitted for the gunshot wound, arrived from the state of Maine on New Year’s, he had posted messages on the internet that might indicate recent Islamist radicalisation, and his relatives had communicated their concerns to the authorities.
