Several thousand people are present at this very early afternoon in Molenbeek, near the MOsque Al Khalil, where the funeral prayer took place following the death of the professor of Islamic religion and preacher Rachid Haddach, originally from Molenbeek and living in Berchem-Sainte-Agathe. Haddach has worked in several schools of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. He was a rather traditionalist teacher, close to young people.

In 2012, De Morgen and Le Soir had associated him with the Salafist movement, accusations to which he had responded in a very long right of reply. He had been threatened with death by Sharia4Belgium and had filed a complaint. Today, according to political scientist Corinne Torrekens, Rachid Haddach is rather unanimous within the Muslim community. After the announcement of his death (the night of Saturday to Sunday, after a long illness), tributes came from all sides, especially from people from the culture or the Muslim faith but not only.

Security measures have been put in place by the municipality and the police, many streets will be blocked in the neighborhood. Rachid Haddach is going to be buried Evere cemetery. Many people plan to go there by bus, in particular.
