Thorbjörn Pedersen: The Man Who Visited Every Country Without Flying

Torbjörn Pedersen left his job and family behind in 2013 to embark on an epic adventure. The 44-year-old man wanted to become the first person to visit every country in the world without flying in a plane.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, his journey took longer than expected. Thorbjern was originally due to arrive in Denmark after his last visit to the country, the Maldives, in 2020. However, his journey home was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with the man stuck in Hong Kong for two years due to restrictions.

Thorbjørn eventually completed his journey in July 2023, almost ten years after he set out, returning to his hometown of Aarhus, Denmark.

He was greeted by a crowd of about 150 people when he docked at the port of Aarhus. Among them was the wife of the man he proposed to in 2016 on top of Mount Kenya, with the two then marrying in 2021.

Because the traveler had decided not to fly, he instead traveled by train, ship, car, and even on foot. As a passenger, he was allowed to check the very long stretches of ocean in container ships.
