On November 1, the annual recording of the Latvian Music Record of the Year Award “Golden Microphone” begins, which will continue until December 2. All entries issued between 2 December 2019 and 1 December 2020 will be accepted for evaluation.
Supporting musicians and producers in this tense year and celebrating its 25th anniversary, this year the submission of recordings to the Latvian Music Record of the Year Award “Golden Microphone” will be free of charge.
Until now, when submitting the entry, it was necessary to pay 25 euros for each category for which the entry is applied for. This year, the organizers of the “Golden Microphone” award, the association “Latvian Association of Producers, Publishers and Distributors of Sound Recordings” or LaMPA, have decided to cancel the participation fee for submitting recordings.
“The past year has been full of uncertainty and anxiety. The everyday life of musicians has become completely different, the future is unpredictable. However, in spite of everything, musicians continue to create, record and be with their listeners in all possible ways. The work in the studios has become even more intense because it is actually the only way to stay creative and not get lost in the whirlpool of Covid-19. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Golden Microphones want to ease the record submission process and delight musicians by claiming the most important music award of the year at no extra cost. This year, we will also focus on submitting entries in electronic format, thus also facilitating the submission process. We have prepared everything so that musicians can apply for participation remotely. However, those who want the visual design of the recording to be evaluated will still be able to submit it in physical format – as convenient for everyone, ”says Elita Mīlgrāve, Chairman of the Board of LaMPA, producer of the“ Golden Microphone ”award.
