A West Virginia woman awakens from a two-year coma after being attacked by someone. It turned out that the assailant was his brother.
Reported from CNNWanda Palmer, 51, accused her brother of assaulting her at her home near Cottageville, West Virginia, in June 2020. Police said Palmer was assaulted and left to die according to a statement posted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department on Facebook.
Police said they found Palmer lying on his couch with severe injuries caused by an axe. Jackson County Sheriff Ross Mellinger told CNN that when police arrived they thought he was dead. But it turns out Palmer is still alive.

A witness reported seeing Palmer’s brother, Daniel, on his porch around midnight before he was found. There were no phone records, surveillance footage, or witnesses outside Palmer’s home.
The police investigated several people but were never able to press charges. A few weeks ago the police station got a call from Palmer’s treatment facility saying he could speak to the authorities.
Daniel Palmer III (55) was arrested July 18, 2022 and charged with attempted murder and violent wounding.
He was charged and assessed on $500,000 bail. Daniel Palmer has no lawyer because he refuses to sign any paperwork, according to Cathryn Brubaker at the Jackson County criminal court office.
