2020 started with one of those findings that any of us draw a smile on our faces, because a jewel on wheels – a Shelby 1967– made an appearance after staying for a long period of time abandoned in a old barn. Since then we had not heard from this type again, but in the last few hours a 1968 Shelby GT500, helpless in an old garage.

30 years abandoned
As usual in this type of case, nobody remembers the vehicle for several decades until the least expected day someone meets it. The same is what has happened with the muscle car American who has been hidden in a barn for no less than 30 years. According to the ad description, the car has not been started since then and still retains most of its original parts, including the engine and transmission.
Judging from the images, all the body panels and exterior trim appear to be in good condition. However, the owner mentions the presence of rust, something that we could all expect, but there is no photograph of the cabin, so we cannot discover the extent of the damage. What we do know is that this Shelby has remained 45 years in the hands of the same owner, who has now decided to put it up for sale.

As we say, the good news is that we are not facing a replica or anything like that, but a completely original unit. In addition, under the hood is the engine with the highest capacity that the brand offered at the time, that is, a block V8 428 ‘Big Block’ (7.0 liters) with a power of 360 horsepower and 570 Nm of maximum torque, associated with a three-speed automatic gearbox per torque converter.

Back to the road
Finally, it’s time to talk about good news and bad news. The first: the car has already been sold; the second: you will not have another opportunity to acquire an original copy like this. Until a few days ago the Shelby, located in Louisville, Kentucky (United States), was advertised on Facebook Marketplace for a price of $ 70,000, that is, about 61,700 euros to change, but someone has decided that it was time to return this gem to the asphalt.
