This is what the escaped TBS’er Sherwin Windster has on his conscience

One of the two TBS’ers who escaped from the Pompekliniek in Nijmegen on Tuesday evening is 27-year-old Sherwin Windster. He shot dead Tilburger Mick Pitai in 2015, during a robbery that got out of hand. It eventually earned him five and a half years in prison and TBS with compulsory treatment.

That was not the first time that the Spijkenisser made a serious mistake. Windster was convicted of manslaughter at the age of 17. The judge imposed on him, among other things, a PIJ measure, better known as youth detention centres. On the day of the Pitai robbery, Windster was on leave in preparation for his return to society.

Valuable jewelry and jewelry
But it never got that far, because during that leave it went completely wrong again. At that time, Windster and his friend Adil El B. had already had contact with Avi K., the then son-in-law of Mick Pitai. He told the boys that his father-in-law owned an extremely valuable collection of jewelry.

That information gave the boys the idea for the robbery. The duo finally decided to invade Pitai’s house on the Betuwestraat on September 15. To their great surprise, they found not only the owner himself, but also four of his friends. While Windster held them at gunpoint, El B. bound their hands with tape.

Wrestling
The foursome then had to take a seat on the bench, where El B. kept watch. Windster, meanwhile, forced Pitai to go upstairs, where the loot would be. But once upstairs, it escalated. Pitai managed to free himself from the tape in his Hindu Gods room, after which a struggle ensued. At one point, Windster’s gun went off.

He would later state that he had no idea that Pitai was actually hit by the bullet. The two would have fought in different rooms for a while, until the Tilburger suddenly collapsed. In court, Windster said he thought he would have knocked out Pitai.

Nothing turned out to be less true. Pitai died not much later from the effects of the shot. His four powerless friends, who heard everything from the couch in the living room, were left traumatized.

Tbs with compulsory nursing
In 2017, the judge initially sentenced Windster to 9 years in prison, but did not impose the required TBS measure. Two years later, the Court changed that ruling to 5.5 years in prison with tbs. His associate El B. received a total of 11.5 years in prison, the son-in-law of Pitai had to go to prison for 3 years for tipping the robbers.

On Monday evening, Windster escaped from the TBS clinic in Nijmegen together with 24-year-old Luciano Dijkman. They managed to get out through a hole in a fence and then fled in a white Volkswagen Golf with a sunroof. The police are now working with a special investigation team on a manhunt for the two. If you see Windster or Dijkman, call the police immediately, but do not approach them yourself.
