JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – The Head of the Information Bureau (Karo Penmas) of the National Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, revealed the reason for the West Java Police to immediately arrest Bahar bin Smith.
According to him, there are two reasons why the police decided to immediately arrest Bahar bin Smith, who is now a suspect in the case of spreading false news or hoaxes.

“The subjective reason is that investigators are worried that BS (Bahar Smith) and TR will repeat the crime and eliminate evidence,” said Ramadhan at the National Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Tuesday (4/1/2022).
It is known, in addition to Bahar Smith, the West Java Police have also determined a person with the initials TR who is the disseminator of the video speech conveyed by Bahar bin Smith.
In addition, other reasons for the direct policy of detaining Bahar bin Smith and TR are related to objective considerations.
The objective reason in question is because there is a threat of criminal punishment to Bahar and TR.

Because, Bahar bin Smith and TR were charged with Article 14 paragraphs 1 and 2 of Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning the Criminal Law Regulation in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code, and or Article 15 of Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning the Criminal Law Regulation in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code, and or Article 28 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 45a of the ITE Law (Information and Electronic Transactions) in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code.
“The objective reason is the threat of punishment for the alleged article to two suspects over 5 years,” said Ramadhan.
