This is how the collection of Bpost parcels in Decathlon Antwerp is …

Antwerp Air Ball

Thousands of Bpost parcels arrive at the Decathlon store in Noorderlaan in Antwerp-North for customers to collect. And that is going smoothly for the time being. “The store is closed, so there is enough space on the shelves.”

“On Monday we received 1,500 parcels, today 1,200. Another large shipment will follow tomorrow, ”says store manager Ilya Chardome. “It was uncertain for a while what quantities of parcels would arrive. The first days a little less parcels were delivered to see if everything is running smoothly. ”

But so far it has been going smoothly. “Especially because we had to realize this in a short time. It is not for the customers to queue. We don’t have a warehouse, so we put the packages on the racks. Now that the store is closed, there is enough space there. ”

Employment

“This is also good for our staff. This creates extra work for eight to ten people. They were otherwise at home through the system of temporary unemployment. Now they get a chance to work. ”

But Chardome is anxiously waiting for politics. “In France (where Decathlon’s headquarters are located, ed.) the shops may reopen on Monday. We hope to get some good news here too soon. At that moment, the number of parcels will be reduced in consultation with Bpost. ”

Parcels are delivered at certain locations where Decathlon itself has set up a system to collect webshop orders. The parcels from Bpost are delivered in the same flow. In the province of Antwerp, these are Olen, Turnhout, Schelle, Lier and Antwerp.

Bpost processes about 600,000 parcels per day for all stores in our country. About 5% is kept at Decathlon for five working days. Then it will be delivered to your home again. (cm)
