Leonie’s stepfather David H. has to go to prison for life. The district court of Neubrandenburg passed this judgment. In January, the 28-year-old abused his six-year-old stepdaughter to the death. He is also said to have done serious violence to Leonie’s two-year-old brother. His son was traumatized to this day. The stepfather had a written statement read out in court, citing a fall of the girl’s stairs as the cause of the fatal injuries. The court was not convinced of this. The head injury with a hemorrhage was too severe. Leonie had been ill-treated for a long time. A trial is also expected for Leonie’s mother. Because it is not yet clear to what extent she is responsible for the death of her own daughter.

When the verdict was pronounced, Leonie’s biological father had clenched a fist to the winning pose, in the courtroom some of those present applauded. “I know that Leonie is very happy upstairs. I also think that this decision makes her happy and she is also happy that Papa has come so far, fought so hard,” said Oliver Ehmke.
