Thiruvananthapuram Corporation Letter Dispute; The High Court says the CBI investigation is unnecessary

Kochi: The High Court said there is no need for an investigation by the CBI into the dispute that Mayor Arya Rajendran wrote to the District Secretary of the CPM asking him to nominate a person for temporary vacancies in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. Former Councilor GS Sreekumar has applied to the court requesting a CBI investigation. The party secretary was accused of nepotism to fill vacancies.

The Director General of Prosecutions told the court on behalf of the government that the petitioner did not have any evidence to substantiate the allegation. The government argued that there was no need for further investigations due to the mysterious letter. The court rejected the petition stating that the CBI investigation is unnecessary now that the criminal branch’s investigation is ongoing.

It had been circulated that the CPM had sent a letter to the district secretary requesting a priority list for hiring day laborers, tampering with the mayor’s official notebook. On November 5, a letter written in Mayor Arya Rajendran’s notebook came out, requesting a list of party members to fill temporary posts in Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. The letter was leaked when a leader forwarded it to a WhatsApp group.
