Russia has enough resources to fight before the end of the year, but social upheavals in Russian society may prevent this.

Bellingcat lead investigator Hristo Grozev believes that Russia has enough resources to continue the war until the end of the year. He said this on Saturday, April 9, in an interview with the BBC.

Answering a question about the timing of the continuation of hostilities, he divided the forecast into military and political components. In the first case, says Grozev, the Russian Federation can prolong the war only in the south and east of Ukraine. But this requires mobilization and the involvement of 150-200 thousand conscripts or contract soldiers in the war. “All this will lead to political concussions,” he added.

From a military point of view, the war, in his opinion, could continue until the end of the year.

As for the political component, Grozev predicts the imminent disclosure of the number of military casualties in the Russian Federation, which will provoke a social crisis. After that, according to Grozev, the Kremlin will not be able to replenish its resources for the war. The investigator believes that this should happen within a month.

At the same time, he considers a new Russian offensive against Kyiv unlikely.
