After the Corona outbreak in a retirement home in Osthofen, there is a third death. A virus analysis should now clarify the large number of infections.
Two men infected with Corona and one woman had died last week, said home manager Manuela Haller. Currently, 52 residents and employees have tested positive for the virus, but tests are continued daily.
Due to the increasing number of infections, the health department had already banned visits last week. In addition, there is again a strict mask requirement.
The ban on visits is to be lifted
Despite this situation, the home wants to lift the ban on visits in the coming days so that healthy relatives can at least meet in the garden, said Haller.
However, the all-clear could still not be given. “Nobody is relaxed here. It has spread so quickly – we are definitely on our guard and hope and pray that there will be no more infections.”
Virus variants are to be determined
It is still unclear where the outbreak began. Therefore, the Alzey-Worms district health department now wants to specifically investigate which virus variants those affected are infected with.
